UACRR and music industry agreed common strategy of copyright market reforming

Kyiv, September 29th – UACRR board, songwriters and producers participated in global discussion “Ukrainian artistic reform for the future”, initiated by UACRR and Ministry of economy. The primary goal of conference was considered to start the cardinal reforming of collective rights management system in Ukraine.
– Today in Ukraine there are 18 operating organizations of collective management, – said Bogdan Paduchak, delegate of Ministry of economy. – And our partners from EU and USA are concerned with its activity. It is time to change the system and to create the one competent organization on UACRR base.

– In all the countries organizations like UACRR are the backbone of musical industry, – claimed acting director of UACRR Dmytro Kostyuk. – But in our country songwriters and producers didn`t have normal conditions to work. Finding the remedy for this situation is the state policy. So let me offer the new program of royalties collecting. It rules out the any violations on music market. This united automated database would allow to increase the annual revenues up to UAH 1.5 billion from current UAH 60 million, – he said.

– We need decision. We need new law, we need cancellation of 17 organizations of collective management licenses, and already for a long time we need this united song database. That’s the things we support, – said Yuri Falyosa, well known music producer.

The same position was sounded by Olekasndra Koltsova, songwriter and “Krykhitka” band leader:
– Now we don’t have the positive experience of cooperation with organizations of collective management. We demand the transparency in this sphere. The modern technology affords to purify the music market. We are ready to play by new sincere rules, and in my understanding all the people assembled here are ready too, – she said.

The reorganization of collective management system and reforming of intellectual property market were claimed to be the official aims of Ukrainian government.
