Dozens of theatres from Ukraine, Poland, Georgia, Portugal, Lithuania, Romania, Armenia, Belarus, Turkey, Hungary and France performed their works at the stage of the festival.

Being the biggest society of Ukraine that deals with the rights of domestic theatre community UACRR took part in
advisory and consultative work accompanying the festival. Thus Interim Director General of UACRR Mr.Dmytro Kostiuk participated in two-day meeting of board of directors of Ukrainian theatres held on May 25-26.

Cooperating with 90 Ukrainian theatres last year UACRR collected a record sum of royalties in the field of “grand rights”, ie theatres, amounting to UAH 21,18 mln and issued theatres with 160 licenses for new plays.

The head of the agency sent a message to the audience that from now on UACRR would switch from passive to active work in protection of author’s right and collaboration with theatres. Moreover it was mentioned that respective actions would be taken against royalty evaders.

“We are your friends – Mr.Kostiuk said. – Today UACRR transforms in a real service organization that will assist theatres”.

This thesis was also supported by a literary manager of Kyiv Academic Theatre of Drama and Comedy Ms. Bohomazova Olena, saying that UACRR’s work activity of the last year and a half became exactly what a copyright agency’s activity should be.

Hence, UACRR and theaters’ representatives agreed on further cooperation and enhancement of power of law in the realm of theatre – a highly important part of Ukrainian cultural life.
