UACRR and NUTAU held a workshop for literary managers

November 29, our agency together with National Union of Theatre Artists of Ukraine held a seminar for literary managers of Ukrainian theatres in UACRR’s office. During the event initialized by UACRR’s Interim Director General Dmytro Kostiuk and NUTAU’s chief Bohdan Strutynsky, representatives of 15 domestic theatres within 7 hours were reviewing presentations and lectures of the UACRR specialists, dedicated to copyright, domestic and foreign author’s plays licensing, respect for rights of the playwrights, protection the theatres from the risks in process of drafting licensing agreements.

Since the very first lecture literary managers started the heated discussion, without leaving out any aspect of theatres’ and UACRR’ joint practice. Аnd then received more than detailed answers from the agency’s specialists.

Following topics were discussed during the workshop:

– UACRR’s license – approval terms and procedure. Procedure of filling of application for issuance of licenses and notification of premiere;

– Music used in theatrical plays. Conditions of trial translation usage. Adaptation for the stage;

– Special aspects of license acquiring from foreign rights holders. Application filling and terms of issuing a license. Acquiring of authorizatrion for a translation . Payment for the music score;

– Requirements for the supporting documents, needed for foreign repertoire license (summary of director and translator of a play, information about a performance). Actions that UACRR takes to get the best financial conditions for the theaters;

– The basic provisions of UACRR license agreement. Theatres’ liability for copyright infringement.
